The Importance of Mindfulness

Mindfulness is a provoking and helpful topic. Is it easy? No, but as most of you discover when you start to practice it, it is essential.
You discover that all the voices in your head and who you think yourself to be are not the essential you. They are, rather, an on-going predictable tape that reflects your persona.
They are the voices of your conditioning and your attachments to habitual ways of thinking, feeling, speaking, and acting.
What a relief to know this, because, all too often, a confusing and painful show is going on inside you. What a gift to realize that you are not those voices.
As you become objective, through mindfulness, you discover energies, qualities, and realities within you that are not based in the past, nor in your image, nor in anything transient. You experience abiding qualities of love, peace, joy, compassion, bliss, happiness, etc. When you identify with these qualities and energies, they express through your speech, emotional body, and actions so that you feel good; more in harmony with life, with yourself, and with others.
If you don't practice mindfulness, you probably will not realize your ability to connect with these abiding qualities and your power to align with life through focus and concentration in a way that is fulfilling. Rather your capacities to feel, speak, act, and create in a positive direction cascade out of control, thus reflecting both your lack of focus and the strength of your identification with who you believe yourself to be.
I invite you to become more present, mindful and objective; and from that place discover the power of your mind and who you truly are in the midst of the myriad of voices. You will discover that, up until now, you have simply lived misconceptions and miss-identifications of who you are and that your inherent power of focus and concentration is misdirected.
As you continue to practice mindfulness, the voices will dissolve and eventually disappear, and you will experience the luminous presence you ultimately are. You will discover you have the innate power and abilities to actualize this deeper, more fulfilling, everlasting, happy reality. Through mindfulness, you awaken to the realization that this is the design of life.
Give thanks to the intelligence of life, for it graciously communicates to us though our intuition, or our "gut" feelings of discomfort, when we need to make an adjustment and shift our internal compass of focus and concentration to the all pervasive, all encompassing reality where true happiness, joy, love and fulfillment exist unceasingly.
